HTG
App Dev Special Interest Group (SIG)
Does your company do application development as
a defined practice area within your business? Do
you find that while your HTG Peer Group delivers
TREMENDOUS value you are alone when it comes to
issues in your App Dev business simply because
few other members offer those services? Do you
want to have a place where you can talk process,
sales, best practices, and other topics focused
SPECIFICALLY on an application development
practice? Then the HTG App Dev SIG may be
exactly what you’ve been looking for. This group
meets twice a year at the HTG All Meetings. A
few spaces have opened up, and so the group is
again looking to recruit a few good members.
This
group is targeted at individuals that have P & L
responsibility for an App Dev business or a
practice area within an HTG company. Issues
discussed are business focused – this is not a
technical group If you are interested in
learning more and being considered for
membership in this closed group with a
membership capped at 12 companies, please

your knowing it that it is
mind-boggling. This workshop is designed

The
Cloud is here and it is real. According
to a study recently completed by
Everything Channel’s IPED Research
division, by 2012, at least 50% of all
customers will have some form of a cloud
solution underway.
The number one request partners ask for
is prescriptive guidance on how to
transform their businesses to
participate. If your organization is in
the early stages of transforming your
business for Cloud, then this workshop

Cloud Computing |
Orange
In this session we will discuss Cloud
Computing from a practical application
standpoint. We will look at the
opportunities, challenges and pitfalls
of building out your own Cloud
environment.
►
What tools are available and which
one should you choose?
1. VMWare,
Citrix Xen or HyperV? Other? How
2. How redundant should you build your Cloud? How much does
redundancy cost?
3. How difficult is it to build a multi-tenant environment
and what tools should be considered?
4. How do you compete with the storage cost in a small Cloud
compared to what Amazon, Google or Microsoft can offer?
►How
do you support a Cloud environment?
1. How do
you know how many clients one can fit in
your Cloud?
2. With the Cloud, you have to support it 24x7, are you
prepared to be able to do this and what
does it take?
3. What makes a client a good or bad fit to go into the
Cloud?
4. Cloud creates a different ballgame. With Managed Services,
if a client’s server goes down, you have
one client to
worry about. If you have
dozens or hundreds of clients in your
Cloud and it goes down, the stakes are
much larger.
►How
do you market the Cloud?
1.
Defining,
packaging and marketing YOUR
Cloud.
2. Filling in the Gaps as IT provider and not as an App-Dev
or Sales Organization.
3. What third-party, white label Cloud offerings are now
available? |
